Financial tracking, not certified accounting. Not legal or tax advice.

© 2026 Music Money Tracker Ltd. All rights reserved. The MMT Release Tracker is a project finance tracking tool. It does not provide certified royalty statements, accounting, legal, or tax advice. Always consult qualified professionals for financial, legal, or tax matters.

Release Tracker£30 · one-off
Excel / Google Sheets spreadsheet

Turn messy release numbers into a clear artist statement.

A £30 release finance tracker for managers, indie labels, and artist teams who need to work out income, expenses, recoupment, and what may be payable for one release period.

Example visual. The tracker is delivered as an Excel / Google Sheets spreadsheet.

The problem

The royalty conversation nobody enjoys.

Every release generates money. It also generates confusion. Most artist teams still reconcile release finances by hand, across spreadsheets that don't talk to each other, bank statements nobody filed, and conversations nobody wrote down.

Royalty statements arrive late, incomplete, or in formats nobody else can read.

Income from streaming, sync, and mechanicals lands in different accounts at different times.

Costs get buried in email threads, shared drives, or somebody's memory.

Nobody can say with confidence what a release actually earned, what it cost, or what's owed.

What it does

Four things the tracker handles for you.

One place for all release income
Log streaming revenue, sync fees, mechanical royalties, and any other income tied to a single release period. No more hunting across platforms.
Track every cost against the release
Recording, mixing, mastering, marketing, distribution fees, advances. Everything that came out gets logged against what came in.
See recoupment clearly
The tracker calculates how costs offset income so you can see whether a release has recouped, and by how much. No guesswork.
Work out what may be payable
Once income and costs are entered, the tracker helps you see what might be owed to each party based on agreed splits. It does the arithmetic; the agreements are yours.
How it works

Three steps. No training required.

01

Enter your release income

Open the tracker in Excel or Google Sheets. Add each income line: streaming totals, sync fees, mechanical royalties, advances received. One row per source, one release period per tracker.

02

Log costs against the release

Add every expense tied to that release: studio time, production, mixing, mastering, marketing spend, distribution fees, session fees. The tracker keeps a running total.

03

Read the summary

The Dashboard pulls together what came in, what went out, the recoupment position, and what may be payable based on your agreed splits. One page, plain numbers, no jargon.

What it does / what it doesn't

Honest about what this is.

We would rather you buy with clear expectations than be disappointed later. Here is exactly what the tracker does and does not do.

What it does

  • Tracks income from multiple sources for one release period
  • Logs all costs against that income
  • Calculates a recoupment position
  • Shows what may be payable based on agreed percentage splits
  • Produces a clear summary you can share with your team or artist
  • Works in Excel and Google Sheets, no account or login needed

What it doesn't

  • This is a project finance tracker, not certified accounting software
  • It does not connect to streaming platforms or pull data automatically
  • It does not verify royalty statements or audit distributor reports
  • It is not a substitute for professional legal, tax, or accounting advice
  • It does not produce statutory accounts or VAT returns
  • Figures are only as accurate as the data you enter
Who it's for

Built for the people who handle the money.

Artist managers
You are the one who has to explain the numbers. The tracker gives you a clear summary to bring to the artist instead of a pile of spreadsheets and bank statements.
Indie labels and small distributors
You need to account for what each release earned and what's owed. The tracker structures the numbers so you can see the position quickly.
Finance and admin in artist teams
You are the person who actually reconciles the figures. The tracker gives you a single working document instead of ten.
Independent artists managing their own releases
You do not have a team yet. The tracker helps you see what a release actually earned, what it cost, and whether there is anything left.
Expectations

What to expect after purchase.

After checkout you receive immediate access to the MMT Release Tracker as a downloadable spreadsheet file. It works in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

You will need to enter your own figures. The tracker does the arithmetic and produces a summary, but it does not pull data from any external source. The output is only as accurate as the numbers you put in.

This is a project finance tracker designed for release level accounting in the music industry. It is not certified accounting software and does not constitute legal, tax, or financial advice. If you need professional accounting or legal guidance, please consult a qualified adviser.
